About
A small web development operation run by Domain Farm Ltd, building and hosting sites on infrastructure we own rather than resell.
Who this is
Webain is a trading name of Domain Farm Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 13544286. It is a small operation, which is relevant to what we are good at: a handful of sites built carefully rather than a pipeline of templates.
We also build and run our own websites, which is an unusual thing for a web developer to say out loud and the most useful thing about us. Everything we recommend here is something we do on sites where we carry the consequences ourselves: the static-first builds, the redirect discipline, the sitemaps with honest dates, the checks that run every morning and tell us when something has quietly stopped working.
What we build on
Static site builds for anything that does not genuinely need software running per visitor, which is most brochure and content sites. WordPress where several people publish regularly and need to do it without us. Custom builds where pages come from a dataset.
Hosting is on our own UK server, running Plesk, with Let's Encrypt certificates and PHP available where a site needs it. The nameservers ns1.webain.co.uk and ns2.webain.co.uk are that server. We mention this twice on this site because it is the difference between a developer who can fix a server problem and one who can only report it.
What we will tell you not to buy
A rebuild you do not need. If your site is reasonably fast, says the right things and you can edit it, the honest answer is to spend the money on the two pages that are missing instead.
We will also decline to promise things that are not ours to promise. Nobody can guarantee a search ranking, or a Google knowledge panel, or a position in an AI answer, and an outfit that offers you one either does not understand how those work or is relying on you not to. What we can do is make sure nothing technical is standing in your way, which is a smaller claim and a true one.
What is not on this site
No client names, no case studies, no testimonials, no project count and no years-in-business figure. Not because there is nothing to say, but because none of it has been written up yet, and a brochure site is exactly where a business is tempted to invent that sort of thing. When there are real references to show, they will appear here with the client's permission.
There are no prices either. What a site costs depends on how many pages it has and whether the content exists, and a starting price that does not apply to your project is not information.
Independence
We are not a reseller for a hosting company and we take no commission for recommending one, which means the advice about where to host is not a sales pitch. If the right answer for your site is somewhere other than our server, that is the answer you will get.
