SEO Preston – Google Number One?
It was with great pleasure this week that I discovered that the SEO Preston blog is sitting pretty at Google number 2 for the keyword [SEO Preston]. Especially as it means my blog is now outranking the Custard Media site for one of our most valuable keywords!
The blog was set up as an experiment to see if I could achieve the coveted number one position, but I found myself with very little time to build links to a personal project. Therefore I never expected the SEO Preston blog to reach the position it has based on a superbly-optimised blog post once a week.
But here we are, with just one competitor standing between the SEO Preston blog and the ultimate prize – the Google number one position. So how has this happened with no link building – and how can I use this information to hit the top spot?! Read more…

SEO Preston officially has a new home!
After the annoying refusal of seopreston.com to rank for the search term [seo preston], an executive decision was taken to move the blog to webain.co.uk, the link building arm of Custard Media.

SEO in Preston: About me, themes and widgets
The blog is starting to take shape, with a fancy new wordpress theme installed and an about me page uploaded.
The first SEO fail has occurred however, albeit a minor one. The theme came with external links built in that are waiting to sap any link juice that might be passed to me when the blog is indexed – as this blog is about SEO in Preston I should really find a theme that is SEO-friendly, so the next job for this afternoon is to find a new ‘clean’ theme, followed by a foray into the world of widgets.
